Mr. Coates is a certified Customs Broker within Jamaica/CARICOM. He is also a Management Consultant and he serves on various boards and committees within Jamaica.

He has studied various courses relating to Customs Brokering and Shipping Logistics. He also continues to study extensively in business management and finance.

Mr. Coates is a member and Past President of JCI St. Andrew and JCI Jamaica, an international leadership training organization for young leaders and entrepreneurs. He currently serves as Vice President of JCI West Indies, the umbrella organization for all the JCI States within the West Indies. 

Our chairman has been in the customs brokering field since May 1993. With the extensive knowledge that he has gained, he went on to be partner with Linval Williams Customs Broker in August 1995. In March 1999, Mr. Coates started Coates Distributors Limited a Customs Brokering and Distribution Company. In August 2005, Mr. Coates renamed and restructured Coates Distributors Limited to Coates Logistics Limited.

With a new look and a new feel Coates Logistics Limited has invested heavily in new technology and intensive staff training. We are the most efficient and professional organizations in the industry today.

The company was restructured to reflect what is happening in the industry today.

Coates Logistics Limited is a member of the Customs Broker and Freight Forwarders Association of Jamaica, a registered exporter with Jamaica Trade and Invest and is rated a TIER ONE CUSTOMS BROKER with Jamaica Customs. This Rating allows Customs Brokers with less than a 5% error rating to participate. The said Customs Broker must also be of good moral character and practices good business ethics. This is a demonstration of our efficiency, competence and professionalism.

Coates Logistics Limited is also a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Jamaica – an affiliate of the Jamaica Employers’ Federation.
